City Square Renewal
Through the efforts of the Auburn Square Merchants Association a replica
of the two story Bandstand that stood in the Town Square from 1905 until
1961 is complete.

Local citizens and Auburn High School Alumni as
well as those throughout the country have purchased engraved bricks and
pavers which will be used to pave a Memory Pathway leading to the Bandstand.
The bricks and pavers have been delivered and are stored awaiting the installation
of the pathway scheduled for completion by Labor Day 2002.
Old fashioned street lamps will be installed
to light each pathway.
The purchase of the light poles and installation were made possible
with a grant obtained from the AmerenCIPS Smartlights program along with
a donation from Ione Shutt. The original globes that were on light
poles around the square in the 1960's have been retrieved and restored.
They will be used on the new poles along the Memory Paths. This project
will follow the completion of the Memory Path.
