     The type of government used by the City of Auburn Illinois is in the form of a Mayor/City Council. Members of the City Council are drawn from the four wards that make up the city. Council meetings are held each month in the city hall council chambers on the 1st. and 3rd. Mondays of the month at 7:00pm.  The public is invited to attend.

     Auburn, is located only 20 minutes from Springfield Il.. It is a growing community offering the advantages of a small town location, yet is within easy reach of all Springfield services.

     The Auburn Public Library has many services which it provides to all the people of the local and surrounding communities. One of those services is Internet access available to the general public via five of the librarys’ computers.. The librarys’ computers have CD-ROM capability for educational and/or informational reference and for research. Two computers can be used to search through the library's holdings.

     The library provides a wide range of services, including home-bound book delivery for physically impaired individuals, participation in the interlibrary loan program to locate hard-to-find books, large print books and books on cassette for the visually impaired, literacy tutoring, workshops for adults through Lincoln Land Community College, weekly children's programs, and a summer reading program. Used book sales are conducted semi-annually.

The library is open six days a week.
